Warren & son Geramy-Robin GOUDIE

GOUDIE:

In the early evening hours of Sunday, January 1, 2017, 69-year-old Warren “Butch” Goudie and his 37-year-old son Geramy-Robin “Bear” (Roamy-Bear) Goudie, both died suddenly of natural causes, within minutes of each other. The deaths of these two wonderful men has devastated their family and close friends.

Warren was born in Happy Valley – Goose Bay, Labrador on July 31, 1947 to parents Warren and Violet Goudie. As a young man, he met & fell in love with Caroline Turnbull. A few years later, and already parents to two young boys, the couple decided their next step should be marriage. In a picturesque country church in Labrador, they tied the knot on May 16, 1970.

In 1974 the Goudie’s moved to Faro, Yukon Territory, and on January 31, 1979, Warren and Carol were blessed with the arrival of their “angel baby”, Geramy-Robin, who completed the Goudie family. Moves to Tumbler Ridge, BC, Yarmouth, NS and Leaf Rapids, MB followed until July of 1988 when the family finally settled in Elkford and fell in love with the area.

Together the Goudie’s enjoyed the simple pleasures of family life; Warren loved hunting and fishing with “the boys” and “running the roads with mama”, touring throughout Canada and the US. Both men had a great sense of humor, so laughter was always the mood for the day.

A hard-working man, Warren supported his family working as a Heavy-Duty Mechanic until his retirement. He was an avid history buff and read everything he could about planes, trains and boats. Warren’s greatest passion, aside from his family, was his love of guns and their history. He was self taught and extremely well read on the subject and he enjoyed sharing his knowledge with others.

Geramy-Robin embodied his father’s heart and soul; they were, without a doubt, “best buddies”. Together they enjoyed target shooting (“plinking”) and road trips to Nanton for Geramy-Robin’s work. Warren loved spending the day with his son and always anticipated their adventures, especially as his health began to decline. Geramy-Robin also loved computers and social networking, and was an amazing cook whose meals quite often tasted even better than many restaurants! He loved nothing more than to prepare delicious food for this parents.

Warren and Carol always considered Geramy-Robin their “gift” …. the child they never thought they’d be able to have. Geramy-Robin was content to remain living at home with his parents; they were wonderful support for each other and together forged a unique and unbreakable bond.

Though the loss of these men is indeed heartbreaking, it is also comforting to know that they are in death as they were in life …. together. Exactly where they’d want to be.

Left to mourn their passing is Warren’s wife and Geramy-Robin’s mother, Carol Goudie with sons/brothers Randolph-Truman and Geoffeory-Jason and his son Noah. Warren is also survived by his brother Wilfred (Geraldine), and sisters Gloria, Hellen (Eugene), and Stella (Timmy) as well as several nieces and nephews.
