Don’t turn valley into a Banff Calgary
Those who would turn the Flathead Valley into a National Park would also be those who would develop the Valley, the way Banff National Park has been developed (Banff “townsite”).
As Banff itself is like a cancerous growth on the beauty of the park, why would anyone who has recreated in the Flathead want any part of a plan like this?
And, where do all these “park promoters” work? I would bet that few of them are employed at the local mines.
Those mines that have made the Fernie/Sparwood/Elkford area what it is today.
How long before these “park promoters” start agitating about shutting down the mines, the logging, the hunting, etc. that has made the area what it is today?
Don’t allow a bunch of “trendoids” ruin what so many long-time residents have enjoyed for years.
These wannabe “Whistlerites” will ruin it, if you do not stand up to their ill conceived plans.
