The Jaffray Rebels took home the gold medal at the East Kootenay Junior Girls Basketball Championship on the weekend.

Nine teams from around the East Kootenay including Cranbrook, Golden, Fernie, Selkirk, Invermere, Creston, Sparwood, and Jaffray competed for the championship.

The bronze medal game was a hard fought game, which saw the Golden Eagles edge out the Sparwood Spartans.

The gold medal game saw the Jaffray Rebels defeat the Selkirk Storm by a score of 67-33.

The next stop for the Jaffray Rebels will be representing the East Kootenays in the Junior Girls Provincials in Abbotsford this coming Thursday. In their first game they will be competing against last year’s Junior Girls provincial champions from South Kamloops.
