Fernie Judo Club came home with a lot of metal when every competitor won a medal at a recent tournament.

On Saturday, April 16, five competitors from Fernie Judo Club participated in the Katsuta Kup hosted by the Raymond Judo Club in Southern Alberta.

The tournament brought in more than 140 other competitors from Alberta and Saskatchewan.

Winning gold in their divisions were Sydney Koevoet and Liam Teetzel. Megan Koevoet and Noah Teetzel brought home silver medals and Cade Williams scooped a bronze.

Club coach Darren Ungaro said he was pleased with the effort shown by the Fernie team.

The Fernie Club also sent referees Mike Teetzel, Sam Samuelson and Fred Gietz to the event.

The judo season will come to a busy end, with senior students competing in the Kootenay Classic Judo Tournament held in Salmo on April 30 and the Fernie Club participating in the Invermere Judo Tournament on May 14.
