Track and field meet

Fernie Secondary School track team headed across the border to Libby two weeks ago to compete against athletes from all across Montana.

The track meet, on Thursday, April 21, was the first of the year for the team. About 200 athletes took part from Fernie, Whitefish, Eureka, Libby, Troy, Columbia Falls, and Noxon.

Fernie Secondary School coach, Paul Chow, said he was really happy with the way the Fernie athletes competed.

“This was our first track meet of the year,” he said. “The results were excellent considering we have been training for the last three weeks with no track available because it was still covered in snow!”

The girls team finished third in overall points in the Junior Varsity division.
