Fernie Falcons rule the court at the zone finals

The Fernie Secondary School's senior girls basketball team played their Kootenay Zone finals in Fernie last Saturday.

With 6.3 seconds left, the score of the final game against Selkirk Storm (Kimberley) was 58-58. A girl from the opposing team fouled against Fernie player Laura Serafini (#6). She received two foul shots and made one of them, making the final score 59-58 for the Fernie Falcons.

The win secured the team a place in the provincials, taking place in Lumby, March 5 to 8. It also secured Laura Serafini the MVP for the tournament. Both first and second place teams will be going to the provincials.
