Elk Valley gymnast breaks club record at Cranbrook’s Key City Classic

The Elk Valley Gymnastics Club (EVGC) sent all 39 competitive athletes to the Cranbrook Key City Classic the March 3rd weekend competing amongst over 400 athletes from all over B.C.and Alberta. Once again, the team performed extremely well and many athletes came home with podium finishes and personal best scores - a true testament to each athlete’s commitment to their training and the club’s top notch coaching.

Xcel Silver athlete, Kayla, broke the EVGC record with an all around score of 37.841, giving her a second place podium finish in her division and age category.

The Elk Valley Gymnastics Club (EVGC) sent all 39 competitive athletes to the Cranbrook Key City Classic the March 3rd weekend competing amongst over 400 athletes from all over B.C.and Alberta. Once again, the team performed extremely well and many athletes came home with podium finishes and personal best scores - a true testament to each athlete’s commitment to their training and the club’s top notch coaching.

The club competed in levels CCP 1-6, including the Xcel Bronze, Silver and Gold divisions.Of note, it was the first competition of the year for the CCP1’s, and Coach Moa Linde was proud of how they performed on the big stage. “They came prepared, excited and competed very well! I’m so proud of them,” said Linde.

A few athletes received top of the shelf finishes! Congratulations to Mae in the Xcel Silver group with an all around score of 36.875, Maelle in the Xcel Silver group with an all around score of 37.050, and Sierra in the Xcel Gold division with an all around score of 36.325.

A big highlight from the competition was Xcel Silver athlete, Kayla, breaking the EVGC record with an all around score of 37.841, giving her a second place podium finish in her division and age category. Congratulations Kayla!

Next up, our CCP6’s are off to provincials in Surrey, BC on March 21st. Good luck to athletes Evie, Addison, Kensey, Evelyn and Maggie!
