On Sunday, Apr 14, the Fernie Volleyball Club (FVC) 15U Girls team won the Division 1 (overall) Gold at the Volleyball Alberta Premier 3 tournament in Red Deer. The squad finished ahead of 119 other 15U Girls teams from all across Alberta that competed in the event in a variety of Divisions in Red Deer, Calgary and Edmonton.

Despite various FVC teams having quite a bit of success the past number of years, this is the first time a squad from the Kootenays at any gender/age have won such a big event.

The team will now go into Volleyball Alberta Provincial championships in a few weeks as the overall #1 seed. The regional team is comprised of 14 and 15 year old players from Fernie, Sparwood, Elkford, South Country and Cranbrook.
