On April 28, the current group of Spartans beat an alumni team by a score of 107-91 as the Sparwood Secondary School’s Sr. Boys Basketball team hosted a game for over a dozen former Spartans of all ages.

Penny Lowe, athletic director of Sparwood Secondary, organized the game as part of her Masters in Education thesis project and hopes to make it an annual event.

She said there was a great turnout from spectators and past students wanting to play.

Spectator Colleen Wyld won the 50/50 and took home $120. At one point, an alumni took off his uniform and traded it with the referee who is himself a Sparwood Secondary graduate, said Lowe.

“Overall, it was a fun and entertaining evening,” she said.
