Trap shooters got some practice at the Fernie Rod and Gun Club’s range on Cokato Road, on Wednesday last week, practicing shooting clay targets to end the Trap Shooting season.
This is a new discipline introduced on the range called ATA (Amateur Trap Shooting Association) style Trap Shooting. Targets are thrown to a distance of 50 yards about 10 feet over the top of the trap house, away from the shooters. Shooters shoot one shot with a 12-gauge shotgun at the fast moving clay target in an attempt to break it.
The Fernie Rod and Gun Club built this new beautiful Trap House with five shooting stations this summer to meet all the rigid specifications of the ATA. Tyler Temple is the Director of Trap Shooting for the club.
