As the final dryland camp of the summer came to a close on August 25th, the BC Alpine Ski Team trainers realized how much improvement every girl on the team made since their first days of “pumping iron”. The older girls, loved seeing the youngsters grow into professional weight lifters as well as become their good friends. “This summer has been as enjoyable as summer camp, yet as painful as navy seal training” says Gregor Družina Women’s BC Ski Team, Head Coach. After a long summer together, the team has been able to bond they believe that each team member is prepared for the long and vigorous season ahead.
Thanks to $40,000 in provincial Brownfield Renewal funding the Elkford Sewage Lagoons can begin the necessary steps towards redevelopment. Sixteen successful projects across British Columbia were awarded more than $730,000 in total through the Brownfield Renewal Funding Program.
The RCMP are stopping Vehiclles on Hwy 3 just before the Tunnel. They are asking local patrons to be on the lookout for Randall Peter Hopley, age 46 from Sparwood. His hair is brown, eyes hazel, he is Caucasian and has a birthmark along his hairline. Police are also searching for Hopley's vehicle a 1987 Toyota Camry, B.C. License plate 098 RAL.
Police believe the suspected abductor, Randall Hopley of Sparwood, returned the boy to his home. RCMP continue to hunt for the 46-year-old.

The Sand Creek Community Club had to make a decision to cancel this year’s Fall Fair due to the new foundation on the Jaffray Hall. The new foundation is coming along they said. “It will be fantastic when everything is complete and it is definitely vital for the sustainability of the hall”. Local RCMP and businesses have partner together to launch brand new project that will begin in Fernie. The program was created in response to many community concerns relating to bike safety and is targeted to those who are abiding by the law and wearing their helmets.
The search for 3 year old Kienan Hebert of Sparwood BC is also being conducted within Alberta. Law enforcement agencies in all areas of this province have been advised of the investigation and are aware of the descriptions of the missing child, Randall Peter Hopley, a person believed to be involved in his disappearance and the vehicle which may be used for transportation.
Police in Kamloops set up a perimeter around the city Thursday night (Sept. 8) after a possible sighting of the vehicle believed to be linked to Kienan Hebert’s abduction in Sparwood.
