The Sparwood Chamber of Commerce annual golf tournament raised nearly $2,800 last week.

With 94 golfers playing golf, and more enjoying the steak dinner that followed on Thursday evening, the event was a great kick off for the Coal Miner Days celebrations.

“It was a great event and we received wonderful community support,” said Norma McDougall, Sparwood Chamber of Commerce manager.

“We had over $1,500 in corporate sponsorship, prizes and services donated from 44 businesses. The sun shone, there was great food, music and trivia. Events like this are great for really bringing the community together.”

The event was so popular it was a sell out and the Chamber had to turn away people wanting to register.
