A vision for Fernie’s future

City of Fernie residents are being invited to share their vision for the future of their community.

City of Fernie residents are being invited to share their vision for the future of their community.

The kick off event for Forever Fernie and the newly formed Community Sustainability Action Team (CSAT) is Friday from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

The public is being invited to engage in the process through this weekend’s events, and through online opportunities.

Forever Fernie is intended to be a comprehensive, community-wide, long-term sustainability vision and plan.

It will proactively address key factors that influence Fernie’s success and sustainability to the year 2030 and beyond.

The CSAT has been formed and is working with the City and the Whistler Centre for Sustainability.

The CSAT is the advisory committee for the Integrated Community Sustainability Plan (ICSP). The members of the CSAT represent the community’s interests in the project.

The CSAT will provide the guidance and do more of the heavy lifting on an ongoing basis for the ICSP.

The ICSP is intended to be a big picture, holistic plan that provides guidance for the development or alignment of all municipal or government plans, policies and decisions.
