A line up of princesses eager for a makeover crowded outside of Lysh Hair Salon on Saturday, June 6 for the second annual Princess Party.

The event was organized by Lysh owner Sarah LeNeveu to benefit local charity Fernie Friends for Friends.

“It’s amazing how man

y people have turned up and the volunteers and sponsors that have come to help put on this event,” said LeNeveu.

Updos, nail painting, glitter tattoos and face painting were among the services Lysh offered that day.

A new feature to the event was professional portraits by Shauna Boyd. Photos of princesses would be uploaded to Facebook and whichever princess received the most votes would receive a Boston Pizza pizza party for five of their friends.

The event was scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. but princesses were seated in their thrones, having their hair braided and pinned before that.

“We had so many people show up that we had to start early,” Leneveu said. “We wanted to make this year bigger and better than the last and I think we succeeded,” she added.

In addition to Lysh’ princess makeover services, attendees were also offered cupcakes and other baked goods.

Friends for Friends charity creator Chris Moulton couldn’t be more grateful.

“It’s unbelievable and so overwhelming what this community has done to support us,” said Moulton, whose charity helps to provide support for Fernie families undergoing cancer treatment.

Since its inception two years ago, Friends for Friends has given $35,000 back to the community.

“We can’t thank Sarah and Lysh enough for what they’re doing here for us. Dedicating an entire day of their business to giving back is wonderful and there’s not enough good things I can say,” he said.
