Fernie Rotary hosted 23 international exchange students last week in Rotary District 5080’s annual International Friendship Tour. The students, from various countries in South America, Europe, Asia, and Africa, have been staying with both Canadian and American families throughout the international Rotary District since August 2013. Rotary District 5080 includes southeastern British Columbia, northern Idaho, and eastern Washington.
While in Fernie, the students were treated to a mine tour, as well as a tour of downtown Fernie, before an evening of fun and games at the Vogue Theatre arcade. After a night’s accommodation at Knox United Church, the students enjoyed a home cooked Canadian breakfast of sausage and pancakes before heading out on their next leg of their journey to Invermere and Golden.
