Fernie to host candlelight vigil

A candlelight vigil will be hosted at the Fernie Secondary School soccer field, this Sunday from 6-7 p.m.

A shooting at a Quebec Mosque devastated the hearts of many Canadians, last Sunday. Six victims were shot.

All are welcome to gather at the Fernie Secondary School soccer field for a candlelight vigil, this Sunday, February 5 from 6-7 p.m.

"Come out to take a stand against racism and religious intolerance, to express our shock and deepest condolences to the victims and families of the shooting at the Islamic Cultural Centre in Quebec City," reads a Facebook post, urging locals to gather at the vigil.

Locals are encouraged to bring candles and flashlights, as an aerial photograph will be taken and sent to the Islamic Cultural Centre following the vigil. In addition, any supportive letters, notes or drawings people would like to contribute, will be included in the package sent to the Islamic Centre.
