Fitness goers are getting healthy and creating new friendships with the Sparwood Recreation Department 'Spring into Summer' Program.

With the intent to getting people out, making friends and moving, the Sparwood Recreation Centre has fired up a diverse and popular health challenge known as 'Spring into Summer.'

The Spring into Summer program offers those who register the opportunity to attend over 100 classes ranging in type and time at a very reduced fee. Those who register also get a sign in card which tracks their progress and allows them the possibility to be entered in a draw for prizes.

"We really feel strongly that the whole community benefits when people are getting out and getting moving. We have a lot of new residents coming into Sparwood, who sometimes feel alone, don't know anyone, and don't know of the fitness programs offered locally. These classes have already proven to be a great way for people to get to know one another and bond over the common interest of health and fitness," says Sheri Taylor the Sparwood Recreation Department Community Services Assistant.

So far 68 people are registered in the program, and everyone is reminded that it is not too late to join in the fun.

All courses are taught by Instructors employed by the Sparwood Recreation Centre, and classes are available for all fitness levels. "It's really great to see what a positive impact this is making, and hear all the wonderful feedback from those attending classes. We hope everyone will come out and try Spring into Summer," says Taylor.
