Olympic spirit continues

Fernie will be celebrating the anniversary of the 2010 Vancouver Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games with a Spirit Festival.

Spirit Festivals will be happening across B.C. with the support of Provincial governments, and Fernie is joining in the fun on February 19.

Fernie’s own Olympian, Emily Brydon, will be helping locals get in the spirit with a presentation called the Power of the Olympics, which will show a small town’s journey to the Olympics.

There will also be street hockey at Gear Hub in Fernie, the Fernie Nordic Society will be hosting carnival games at the Aquatic Centre, and there will be a welcome drumming ceremony by the St. Mary’s high school students’ band, from Cranbrook.

The events start with the hockey game at noon and will finish off with the presentation by Brydon at the Fernie Museum.
