Crime in the Elk Valley

Tuesday, August 30th

•    In Fernie at 12:03 there was a fight in a liquor establishment.

•    In Fernie at 2:23 a.m. an individual was yelling at another individuals dog.

•    In Sparwood  at 3:00 a.m. there was a report of possible break and enter to a garage.

•    In Fernie at 12:11 p.m. mischief was done to a vehicle.

•    In Fernie at 2:57 p.m. a vehicle hit a deer.

•    In Sparwood at 3:58 p.m. there was a break and enter to a residence that had occurred two weeks prior.

•    In Elkford at 4:05 p.m. an abandoned vehicle was reported.

•    In Sparwood at 4:34 p.m. there was a report of an abandoned vehicle.

•    In Baynes Lake at 4:58 p.m. a vehicle was impounded for excessive speed.  The vehicle was travelling one hundred and thirty eight kilometers per hour in an eighty zone.

•    In Sparwood at 6:12 p.m. there was an abandoned 911 call.

•    In Fernie at 8:11 p.m. a vehicle was stolen. The vehicle is described as 1991 blue Chevy Cavalier, BC plate ID is 666 NCX. The vehicle was taken from a residence on the 400 Block of 6th Avenue.

•    In Fernie at 10:16 p.m. there were various items stolen from a vehicle.

Wednesday, August 31st

•    In Fernie at 12:53 a.m. police were requested to assist with an individual under the mental health act.

•    In Fernie at 2:36 a.m. there was an individual laying in the middle of the road.

•    In Fernie at 5:02 a.m. there was a request for assistance with an individual under the mental health act.

•    In Sparwood at 8:26 a.m. a license plate was reported lost.

•    In Fernie at 8:43 a.m. police were requested to assist with a patient at the Elk Valley Hospital.

•    In Sparwood at 9:06 a.m. police attended to a custody dispute.

•    In Sparwood at 10:42 a.m. police were requested to assist with custody order.

•    In Fernie at 11:02 a.m. a single vehicle accident occurred.

•    In Fernie at 11:07 a.m. police are requested to assist with an individual under the mental health act.

•    In Sparwood at 12:05 p.m. there was an individual driving an unlicensed scooter  with a case of beer on the back.

•    In Fernie at 12:23 p.m. tires were slashed on a vehicle.

•    In Sparwood at 12:40 p.m. a vehicle hit a deer.

•    In Sparwood at 1:50 p.m. there was an abandoned 911 call.

•    In Fernie at 2:04 p.m. the Elk Valley Hospital requested police assistance with a patient.

•    In Fernie at 2:42 p.m. a wallet was found.

•    In Sparwood at 5:02 p.m. there was a report of an individual uttering threats.

•    In Sparwood at 5:04 p.m. an 911 call was abandoned.

•    In Sparwood at 5:45 p.m. there was a family disturbance.

•    In Sparwood at 6:04 p.m. an erratic driver was reported. A blue Chevy Silverado was trying to pass on inside shoulder and almost caused a collision.

•    In Sparwood at 6:16 p.m. a second call was made regarding the Chevy Silverado.

•    In Sparwood at 6:20 p.m.  there was a breach of court ordered conditions.

•    In Fernie at 8:19 p.m. there was a suspicious vehicle. A white pickup truck with a male and female occupant was parked outside a residence  staring at it, when the homeowners arrived the pickup vehicle fled.

 

Thursday, September 1st

•    In Fernie at 1:10 a.m. a complainant reported a possible impaired driver. The individual had been staggering and smelling like alcohol in a convenience store.

•    In Fernie at 6:20 a.m. a vehicle hit a deer.

•    In Sparwood at 9:14 a.m. there was an abandoned  911 call.

•    In Sparwood at 9:43 a.m. there was a report of  a youth who did not return home the previous evening. The youth has been heard from but refuses to disclose their location.

•    In Sparwood the 9:46 a.m. there was an abandoned 911 call.

•    In Fernie at 10:34 a.m. there was a report of harassing calls.

•    In Sparwood at 10:47 a.m. police were requested to keep the peace.

•    In Fernie at 11:25 a.m. a wallet was found.

•    In Fernie at 12:45 p.m. an individual reported harassing phone calls.

•    In Fernie at 3:22 p.m. a complainant reported harassing phone calls. This call was related to the previous two that occurred hours earlier.

•    In Sparwood at 3:28 p.m. a drivers license and bank card were found.

•    In Fernie at 3:41 p.m. Sherwood Park RCMP requested Elk Valley RCMP search for a missing individual.

•    In Elko at 3:54 p.m. a travel trailer was broken into.

•    In Sparwood at 4:27 p.m. a father reported his son was using his bank card without permission.

•    In Fernie at 6:58 p.m. a bike was stolen.

•    In Elkford at 10:48 p.m. mischief was done to signs at a public park.

•    In Fernie at 11:58 p.m. an intoxicated individual was standing on their deck shooting a rifle.

 

Friday, September 2nd

•    In Sparwood at 1:50 a.m. there was an abandoned 911 call.

•    In Sparwood at 9:19 a.m. a  license plate was lost.

•    In Sparwood at 11:21 a.m. a business photocopier shut down because a sensor had been set off believing money had been photocopied to create counterfeit funds. Police attended and discovered it was a cheque that was being photocopied. Toshibas policy is to have police attendance to make sure counterfeit money was not being produced.

•    In Sparwood at 11:39 a.m. an erratic driver was reported. The champagne coloured Odessy  had B.C. plates and was passing erratically almost causing a head on collision.

•    In Fernie at 1:39 p.m. there was a  report of a suspicious  smell coming from behind a restaurant.  The Fernie Fire Department attended and confirmed the smell was from a fuel truck unloading at the 711.

•    In Fernie at 5:19 p.m. a hit and run occurred.

•    In Sparwood at 2:08 p.m. there was an assault between two youth that are known to each other.

•    In Elkford at 2:16 p.m. an overdue hiker was reported. The last spot coordinated put the individual in Alberta where he began his hike. Three hours later the individual was heard from and safe and sound.

•    In Rooseville at 4:50 p.m. a stolen vehicle was attempting to enter the United States.

•    In Grasmere at 7:11 a complainant reported a  large bull on the highway.

•    In Fernie at 8:25 p.m. a complainant reported the door was open on a piece of CPR equipment. CPR had intentionally left the door open.

•    In Fernie at 8:48 p.m. there was a report of an intoxicated individual refusing to leave a residence.

•    In Elko at 9:36 p.m. a thirteen year old was reported missing after she went for a walk and did not return. Later, the youth was located safe and sound.

•    In Fernie at 10:35 p.m. two individuals were intoxicated at a restaurant throwing food and refusing to leave or pay the bill.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Saturday, September 3rd

•    In Sparwood at 2:47 a.m. there was a 911 call from a six year old child who woke up and realized his fifteen year old babysitter was not around. The mother was contacted at her workplace and immediately returned home.

•    In Fernie at 2:57 a.m. a twenty four hour driving suspension was issued.

•    In Fernie at 3:00 a.m. a break and enter was reported in progress at a local hotel.

•    In Fernie at 3:45 a.m. a ninety day driving prohibition was issued.

•    In Elko 8:48 a.m. a  black Jeep Liberty was reported to be speeding and following too close.

•    In Elko at 12:06 p.m. a  red Jeep Cherokee was reported to be driving erratically.

•    In Fernie at 12:45 p.m. a bike was stolen.

•    In Fernie at 2:20 p.m. a white Expedition was reported to be throwing beer cans out of the window.

•    In Sparwood at 2:49 pm. a purse was reported lost.

•    In Grasmere at 4:16 p.m. a caller reported an individual shooting a rifle.

•    In Sparwood at 6:03 p.m. a civil dispute occurred over property.

•    In Fernie at 6:17 p.m. a caller reported a Ford F150 with three motorcycles in the back was all over road and crossing the center line.

•    In Elko at 8:16 p.m. there was a disturbance at the boat launch area of River Road. This call was a possible domestic dispute.

•    In Fernie at 9:26 p.m. an erratic driver was reported. A black SUV was pulling a trailer with no brake lights.

•    In Sparwood  9:47 p.m. an intoxicated  individual was at a residence and was becoming belligerent and violent.

•    In Sparwood at 10:10 p.m. there was a single vehicle accident. A red truck was on its roof after it swerved to avoid a deer on  the soft shoulder.

•     In Fernie art 11:46 p.m. there was a single vehicle accident. No injuries were reported.

 

Sunday, September 4th

•    In Fernie at 12:20 a.m. a suspicious blue cargo van was reported.

•    In Fernie at 1:29 a.m. a twenty four hour  driving suspension was issued.

•    In Fernie at 2:42 a.m. there was fight outside a liquor establishment.

•    In Fernie at 2:49 a.m. a  twenty four hour driving suspension was issued.

•    In Baynes lake 9:14 a.m. a  911 call was abandoned.

•    In Fernie at 10:55 a.m.  a 911 call was abandoned.

•    In Sparwood 12:41 p.m. a black  Chevy with Alberta plates was reported to be swerving all over the road.

•    In  the Kikomun Creek are at 1:31 p.m. a motor vehicle accident occurred. No injuries were reported.

•    In the area of Highway 3 and 93 at 2:12 p.m. a vehicle traveling toward Sparwood was reported to be having a family disturb between a father and son while driving.

•    In Fernie at 5:30 p.m. a bike was stolen.

•    In Fernie at 5:38 p.m. items in a pickup box were stolen.

•    In Fernie at 6:24 p.m. an individual was reported to be intoxicated in public. Police attended and the individual was arrested for being drunk in public and issued a violation.

•    In Fernie at 6:28 p.m. a  take auto without consent was reported.

•    In Elkford at 7:30 p.m. cattle were being moved on the highway with individuals on horseback and quads. The caller was concerned it was a hazard to traffic.

•    In Elkford at 8:49 p.m. a report occurred of  two individuals possibly involved in drug activity.

•    In Fernie at 8:58 p.m. an individual was arrested for being drunk in public.

•    In Elkford at 10:04 p.m. harassment between neighbours occurred.

•    In Fernie at 10:05 p.m. an intoxicated male was laying in front of a hotel.

 

Monday, September 5th

•    In Fernie at 4:44 a.m. a loud party was reported.

•    In Fernie at 9:15 a.m. a stop sign was ripped out of the ground.

•    In Baynes Lake at 12:34 p.m. there was abandoned 911 call.

•    In Sparwood at 1:31 p.m. A family  disturbance took place. Police determined it was an argument over chores.

•    In Elko at 1:42 p.m. verbal threats were reported.

•    In Elkford at 2:30 p.m. mischief was reported. Damage was done to the rubber surface at the play ground. This incident most likely occurred over the summer months.

•    In Elkford at 3:11 p.m. a complainant reported that a blue Ford F150 was driving erratically. The caller was concerned the driver was possibly intoxicated.

•    In Fernie  at 3:12 p.m. an overdue youth was reported. The youth was later located safe and sound.

•    In Fernie at 3:20 p.m. an unlicensed driver was reported.

•    In Fernie at 4:04 p.m. there was a report of suspicious activity between two individuals at Maiden Lake. This incident is still under investigation as it may have been a prank call.

•    In Fernie at 5:22 p.m. a local business reported shoplifting.

•    In Sparwood at 6:32 p.m. a 911 call was abandoned.

•    In Elko at 8:21 p.m. a black Jeep was driving erratically.

•    In Fernie at 11:34 p.m. a  caller reported a loud party.
