Edge Of The World hosted their annual Rock, Paper, Scissors contest, which challenged individuals to fight for a new snowboard of their choice.

This is the 18th year in a row that the downtown snowboard shop has put on this event.

“It was my idea... I wanted to do something cool as an event,” said Edge Of The World owner, Greg Barrow a.k.a ‘G-Money’. “It’s always been really good. We usually have well over a hundred people here.”

“Everybody loves it. You get to pick a board off the floor, a board of your choice which is really awesome,” he added.

The game played was a regular rendition of Rock Paper Scissors with no modifications or extra rules; a game which has been used as a way to settle scores since 200 BC.

By process of elimination, over a hundred people battled against each other until only two were left. In an epic finale, two fought and one came out victorious. The winner was Chantelle, a traveler originally from Tasmania who has been in Fernie for just one month.

She came for the snow, with an aspiration to learn how to snowboard. After seeing a poster advertising the event, she knew she wanted to participate.

“I thought about it a long time, how to win scissor paper rock, yesterday,” she said. “And it worked!”
