Rocky Mountain Elementary students know science

The primary science fair on January 23 featured eight projects and 10 students participated from grades 1, 2, and 3. The five top projects received a ribbon.

Winners were Eddie Chamberlain and Maria Jeneau (Water Fun,) Declan Cook and Celtie-Rae Auger (Fancy Flowers,) Quintin Haagsman (Lava Lamps,) Samantha Sutton (Air Pressure) and Taylor Smith (Facts Chicken and Their Eggs.)

The intermediate science fair on January 24 had 76 students participating.

There were 61 projects.

The top five of each class (grades 4,5,and 6) received ribbons.

Winners were Volcanoes (Levi Rice) and Steam Engines (Justice Merrill and Hayley Kniert) in grade 4.

Bubblebrains (Vanessa Smithies,) Processing Coal (Gracie Beranek and Annabelle Scott,) Submarines (Michiel Spittael,) Nessie-Fact or Fiction (Erin Mills) and Solar Energy (Tanner Barclay) in grade 5.

Building a simple Motor (Davin Ayres,) Squeaky Clean (Tessa Alexander,) No Nose, No Taste (Sydney Hubbard and Taylor Kniert,) Fungi (Connor Ashbridge) and Batteries That Make "Cents" (Logan Griffin) in grade 6.

Parents were welcome to view all of the projects in the afternoon.

Awards were presented by Karen Alexander, Science Fair Coordinator and Ms. Shirley McGale, Principal of RMES.

All participants are invited to attend the Regional Science Fair in Cranbrook next month.
