After several years of discussions and negotiations, the City of Fernie will finally have 911.
Fernie City Council voted unanimously for the emergency service during the Oct. 15 meeting of council. The service is scheduled to be up and running by 2003.
Fernie Mayor Evelyn Cutts congratulated council on their decision.
“Good luck to all of you and a job well done on getting 911 implemented in our area” she said.
The 911 service is being provided under contract with the City of Cranbrook.
