A Vancouver Island singer/songwriter has included a more personal tone to his tour after losing a friend and fellow musician to cancer.
Ryan McMahon and Megan McNeil went into the recording studio for the last time in November 2010.
In January, McNeil lost her fourth battle with cancer.
The song they recorded together, Wake Up, which is the first single from McMahon’s solo album All Good Stories, is dedicated to McNeil.
McMahon’s songs embrace the unique Canadiana genre, which is described as a style that embraces folk, roots and rock.
The I’ll Be Damned Tour, started from McMahon’s hometown in Ladysmith, B.C. and is making it’s way to Edmonton, AB.
Partial proceeds from the tour’s ticket sales, the CD sales and downloads are going to The James Fund and the B.C. Childhood Cancer Parents Association.
McMahon’s tour will also include music from his other album coming out this year, which is a full band recording with The Company Damn, called Put the Past in a Flask.
McMahon and The Company Damn will be at Sneaky’s Pub in Elkford on April 12 at 9 p.m.
