Hamilton singer and songwriter, B.A. Johnston, has been called one of the hardest working musicians in the Canadian Indie music world.

“B.A Johnston is, hands down, Canada’s best and most hard working one man band. The man is a relentless touring machine. A true entertainer that leaves everything on stage,” said Stephen O’Shea, bassist of Abbotsford’s You Say Party!

His unique sugar pop music combines a youthful romance with video games to create songs like “Love=NBA jam.”

Johnston is also influenced by snacks like nacho cheese, hot dogs and poutine which comes across in “Taste the shame.”

Despite the humorous lyrics, Johnston’s songs like “Kiss her you loser” honestly convey the emotions of looking for love, finding love, and losing love.

On his myspace he describes his music as nerd rock at its highest point, dork lullabys and loser anthems.

Johnston says that his influences are Atari 2600, high school heartbreak, Olde English beer, poutine, and washing dishes for the man.

The hard working Canadian musician has released five albums and has toured all over Canada.

He’s toured with other Canadian bands like Immaculate Machine, Cuff the Duke, and Mayor McCa.

Johnston will be playing at The Northern in Fernie on March 29.
