Reel Canadian Film Fest returns to Fernie

The Reel Canadian Film Festival is back for another year.

The Reel Canadian Film Festival is back for another year. Taking place March 29 to 31, the fifth annual festival will celebrate the Canadian film-making industry with five stunning Canadian films, plus National Film Board shorts for the kids.

The Reel Canadian Film Festival is an off-shoot of The Arts Station’s Indie Films Fernie series. Inspired by the popularity of this series, a dedicated group of volunteers embarked upon creating a festival that would have a more specific focus, Canadian films, and that celebrates the dedication, skill, talent, and diversity within the Canadian film industry.

The event will kick off with an opening gala at The Central Friday evening and after a weekend jam-packed with entertainment, the festivities will wrap up Sunday at the Vogue Theatre with a closing reception.

Brand new this year is People’s Choice Sunday. This is a chance for the audience to have their say and vote for the two films that will play on Sunday. Movie-goers can view the trailers for the four films in the running at www.reelfilmfest.ca and then vote for their two favourites out of Blackbird, Lunarch, Revolution, and Stories We Tell.

Making a special appearance on opening night is Sean Garrityto, the director of My Awkward Sexual Adventure. Garrityto will be available for a meet and greet with fans at The Central following the screening of his film.

Festival passes and opening night tickets are now available at The Arts Station or online at www.theartsstation.eventbrite.com. For the full lineup and more information visit www.reelfilmfest.ca.
