Round two for singing contest

Another singer will have the chance to be crowned Creston’s best in March, when the Creston round of Kootenays’ Best Singer runs at Prince Charles Theatre.

Building on the success of Creston’s Best Singer, which ran in November and saw Jordan Janzen take first place, with Wanda Powell in second and Warren Bruns in third, organizer Vern Gorham is excited for round two.

“It exceeded my wildest dreams in most ways,” he said. “I was happy with the singing and the judging and the audience — the audience was so energetic.”

This time, the contest will have two parts, starting with a Feb. 23 audition show, in which 30 singers will be judged by the audience and whittled down to 20, who will compete in a March 11 finale evaluated by out-of-town judges.

Gorham is currently seeking contestants for the audition concert. For more information, visit kootenaysbestsinger.com, or contact Gorham at verngorham@telus.net or 250-428-0305.
