The College of the Rockies in Fernie has a new campus manager. Tim Schoahs is relocating to the Elk Valley from Squamish and brings with him 18 years of post-secondary experience.

“We’re delighted to welcome Tim to our team at College of the Rockies,” said Robin Hicks, Vice President Academic. “Tim has the depth and breadth of experience, along with a community-minded spirit, which make him a great fit for this critical role as the campus manager in Fernie.”

Schoahs is familiar with Fernie and excited about pursuing his passion for downhill skiing.

“I am very excited to join the team at College of the Rockies; an institution that has such a great reputation both as a centre of learning and as a community member,” Schoahs said. “I am also psyched to get back into downhill skiing. I've been warned about the cold but hopefully growing up in Northern Ontario has prepared me for Fernie winters.”

Schoahs replaces retiring manager Anita Palmer who has been with COTR for 32 years, 12 of them as campus manager.

“We are thankful for Anita’s leadership and her passion for the community. She will be missed, but we wish her well on her well-deserved retirement and we know that Tim will carry on her good work,” said Hicks.

Schoahs assumes his responsibilities on July 16, with Palmer providing support during the transition. Her official retirement date is August 31.
