Environment Canada has issued a severe thunderstorm watch for the East Kootenay, south including Cranbrook.

Current weather conditions are favourable for the development of severe thunderstorms that may produce strong wind, large hail and heavy rain. This could result in localized utility outages.

Environment Canada warns heavy rain can cause flash flooding and reduce visibility for motorists, while wind gusts have the potential to damage trees, buildings and overturn vehicles.
