La Cafamore is touring the Kootenays again with a program, ‘In Beethoven’s Shadow’. They will be in Kimberley on Thursday September 5, 2024 at Centre 64, 7:30 p.m., and Fernie on Saturday, Sept 7 at Mountainside Community Church with a 7 p.m. start

The program features works by Beethoven and by those he influenced in his time and going forward.

“Any composer, and most classical musicians” says violinist Carolyn Cameron. “In fact, every member of this group can trace themselves back to Beethoven through their piano teachers”.

“It is a favourite pastime of piano pedagogues to link themselves to Beethoven through their piano teachers, as he was not only a performer and composer, but also a prolific teacher”, said Cameron.

Works performed will include Beethoven’s Archduke Trio; Ignaz Lachner’s Trio #4 and Mel Bonis’ Suite enTrio.

“Kimberley is one of our favorite places to play” said Cameron. “Centre 64 is a wonderful, intimate venue- perfect for classical music. And we look forward to our Fernie concerts and have included it in all our tours over the past few years. The 88 Keys Grand Piano Society and Sylvia Elias has been invaluable in promoting the concert.”

This configuration of La Cafamore features violinist Carolyn Cameron, violin Angela Snyder and pianist Hendrik Mendes.

Tickets are $20, children 12 and under free.
