The Kimberley RCMP removed a body from Mark Creek on July 19 they believe to be missing Kimberley man Jonathan Scott Allen, who went missing on June 29.
Allen, 52, was last seen at a local liquor store on June 29 but, according to Kimberley RCMP detachment commander Sgt. Steven Woodcox, wasn't reported until July 4, which is when the RCMP became involved.
Woodcox said somebody had found Allen's guitar and some of his belongings along Mark Creek, but no one had initially informed the RCMP. They then did a search of the river on July 15 with the assistance of Search and Rescue (SAR), but were unable to find anything.
"Maybe the water levels then sunk and then on Friday, Jul. 19 some youths saw what they thought was a body," Woodcox said. "And it was him, wearing the same clothes and jewellery.
"So we are confident it was him and we believe he most likely fell in there, but we don’t believe that there was any criminality involved here."
Kimberley SAR came to assist getting the body out of the water and the BC Coroners Service attended the scene as well.
