A woman is recovering after an incident involving an ATV southeast of Fernie.

On Monday night, Fernie Search and Rescue were tasked by BC Ambulance to respond to a 54-year-old woman with hip injuries.

The woman with a group of ATV riders in the Flathead area south of Tent Mountain when the incident occurred.

According to Fernie SAR, they were able to call for assistance using an inReach satellite communicator, which gave Fernie SAR precise location coordinates.

Two SAR technicians were flown in via helicopter and were able to quickly find and assess the woman, immobilize the injury, and transport her to a waiting ambulance.

Sparwood SAR was also asked to respond via road but was stood down when the helicopter reached the group.
