The 2022 Elkford Business Awards are coming up and will be back in full form for the first time in two years.
The event will take place on Saturday, Oct. 22 at the Elkford Community Conference Centre (750 Fording Drive).
The awards have been held online since 2019, according to Shawna Bryant, vice president of the Elkford Chamber of Commerce.
“I’m just really excited to be able to have it in person again, being able to connect again with residents and businesses in person,” she said.
Six winners will be announced from a pool of 65 nominees.
The categories are Business of the Year, Industrial Business of the Year, Small Business of the Year, Customer Service of the Year, Non-Profit of the Year, and Volunteer of the Year.
Bryant spoke of the ‘exemplary’ amount of nominations in the non-profit and volunteer categories.
She said there was one non-profit in particular that stood out among every other nomination and was “highlighted really well by the community.”
“You can tell that it was kind of a no questions asked for picking that winner,” she said.
“And then, when it came to volunteer of the year, so many submissions for volunteers that it was just a really true show of Elkford, and their volunteer base, because of all the different names that were put through for nomination.”
The gala will run from 5 p.m. to 12 a.m.
There will be a dinner, award ceremony, and a dance, with ‘a few fun little added ins’, according to Bryant.
The cost is $300 for a table and $40 for a ticket. Bryant said about 100 people were expected to attend (as of Oct. 13).
“Now that events are allowed to be back in person, it’s so amazing to see people stand up, get excited, and start attending again,” Bryant said.
“So, I’m really excited for this one.”
