Griz pins are officially on sale ahead of the 2022 Griz Days.

President of Fernie Rotary, Anita Palmer, sold the first pin to Fernie Mayor Ange Qualizza on the steps of city hall on Feb. 8, a little under a month ahead of the 45th annual festival.

The pins are on sale for $3 each around town with pins available at Save-On foods, TD Bank, Scotia Bank, Big Bang Bagels, Drt ad Sonder, Fernie Distillery, the Visitor Information Centre and Mountain Spirits, with more locations to become available soon.

Griz Days is organised by the Fernie Chamber of Commerce alongside community partners, with Fernie Rotary taking point on selling Griz pins.

Proceeds for the 45th Griz Days griz pin sales will go towards the Fernie Food Bank and local charity Cycling Without Age.

Aysha Haines of Fernie Rotary said that the two groups do great things for the community.

“We recognise how important it is for those with limited mobility to be able to get outside, and Cycling Without Age are helping with that,” she said.

Griz Days 2022 is being designed to be as close to a typical year as possible, while still following all health public health mandates in place.

“We’re really looking forward to seeing everybody for a safe and fun outdoor experience, and to raise money for such important local community groups,” said Haines.

Griz Days 2022 takes place over March 4, 5 and 6, with details on events available at ferniegrizdays.com.
