Salvation Army Fernie (SAF) will be hosting a volunteer appreciation dinner on April 15 to celebrate the hard working hands that made its operations successful in 2022.
SAF has volunteers of all stripes that lend support from year to year. Seniors, retirees, young adults and high school students help out, as well as members of Fernie EMS and Fernie Ghostriders.
SAF major corps officer Jennifer Robins estimates that SAF currently has about 80 volunteers, with 30 helping regularly.
The dinner, which includes a homemade meal and door prizes, is all about showing volunteers that the organization is thankful for their support.
“We appreciate what they do. The army behind the army is the volunteers,” she said.

SAF is grateful to the volunteers who continued to offer support during the pandemic, including those who dedicated their time to special events like Christmas hamper distribution, Christmas dinner, the Christmas Kettle Campaign and the fall meal.
It continues to search for volunteers to help arrange clothing displays and sort donations at its thrift store.
