The BC Wildfire Service today announced that the Baynes Lake prescribed burn remains active within its existing fire perimeter, due to recent weather conditions.
They further explained that the burn continues to meet its objectives of restoring and maintaining native plant communities as well as improve wildlife habitat and cattle forage.
“Smoke is visible in the area and may continue to be visible for the next few days or weeks depending on local weather conditions,” read a post by BC Wildfire Service on social media this afternoon.
“Crews continue to diligently monitor this burn as it continues to meet its objectives.”
The Baynes Lake prescribed burn is part of an ongoing restoration program involving the Rocky Mountain Trench Ecosystem Restoration Program, the B.C. government and non-government organizations. For more information, visit: www.trench-er.com.
