City of Fernie’s Building Official, Duane Janzen, released the Building Official’s Report for May 2016.

City of Fernie’s Building Official, Duane Janzen, released the Building Official’s Report for May 2016. The report was made public as an information item at the June 13 City Council meeting.

According to Janzen’s report, the total value assessed for May was $2,642,000. This was compared to $966,500 for the same month last year. To date, the total assessed value for 2016 is over $5.4 million, compared to $4.3 million at this time in 2015.

There were a total of 12 permits issued in May, 11 of which fall under the residential category. Five permits were issued for new residence, for a building construction value of over $2.4 million. Six addition and renovation permits were issued, for a building construction value of $147,000. There was one permit issued for a commercial addition or renovation, with a value of $80,000.
