On December 22, 2015 at approximately 9:30 pm, the Elk Valley RCMP responded to a single vehicle roll-over accident on Hwy 3 in the Elko, B.C. area.  The accident scene was approximately 5 km east of Elko, BC near the “Rock Cuts” area.  The driver and sole occupant of the vehicle was injured, was extricated by the fire crew and transported to the hospital by BC Ambulance.

Traffic on both directions of Hwy 3 in the accident area had to be stopped for approximately 90 minutes in order for the rescue operation, investigation and subsequent clean up to be conducted safely.  Speed and weather conditions are believed to be possible contributing factors to the accident.  The weather at the time was -5 degree Celsius, light snow with snow removal truck actively plowing the Hwy.

The Elk Valley RCMP would like to remind motorists travelling during this holiday season to be mindful of the road conditions.  Slow down and drive to the conditions and your abilities.
