Two Elk Valley kids will get to go to camp this summer after another successful Camp Day at Tim Hortons in Fernie.
Volunteers from the community helped out on Wednesday, making coffee, cleaning tables and serving at the drive-thru window.
Ghostriders hockey players also cleaned windshields to help raise money, and all coffee sales went towards the Camp Day cause.
In total, nearly $4,300 was raised which will send Kayley Andrews, 12 and Ashley-Marie Joinson, 11 to Kananaskis Childrens Ranch from July 9 to 12 this year.
Kristine Hovind-Pelletier, owner of Tim Hortons in Fernie, said the day was really successful.
“We had volunteers from the fire department, RCMP and Ghostriders as well as the Mayor and staff that gave their time. Fernie Secondary School students came and painted the windows for us, and we had other fun activities going on throughout the day.”
Camp Day is the one day a year when Tim Hortons restaurant owners across Canada and the United States donate every penny from coffee sales to the Tim Horton Children’s Foundation. Last year, Camp Day raised more than $9.7 million.
The proceeds send kids, who could otherwise not afford it, on a camping trip of a lifetime.
