The Community Foundation of the Kootenay Rockies (CFKR) is pleased to announce that it has wrapped up its agency agreement with the Elk Valley Regional Land Trust (EVRLT), as of December 31, 2022.

CFKR entered into the agency agreement with EVRLT in June of 2021 to support the purchase of privately held industrial forestry lands in the Elk Valley, conserving and protecting these lands for future generations.

At that time, EVRLT was a BC-registered non-profit society but not yet a CRA-registered charity. Via the agency agreement, CFKR accepted charitable donations for the project, provided tax receipts to donors, and stewarded the funds.

EVRLT received CRA charitable status in May of 2022. Following this key milestone, CFKR began to work with EVRLT to wrap up the agency agreement, including the full disbursement of all remaining funds.

According to Lynnette Wray, CFKR Executive Director, “CFKR was very pleased to work with EVRLT on launching this important project in the Elk Valley, to support the sustainable use of this land for a wide variety of user groups. We wish EVRLT all the best with their continued work.”

Kevin LaRoche, EVRLT Executive Director, stated “We sincerely appreciate CFKR’s support in the initial stages of this important initiative, and we invite anyone who is interested in supporting EVRLT with their time, energy, and/or donations, to visit https://elkvalleylandtrust.org/.”
