The third annual ‘12 Days of Christmas Online Auction’ launched Thursday (Dec. 1) morning and raised $3,350 in the first few hours.

The auction fundraiser is put on by the Emily Brydon Youth Foundation (EBYF) and will be running until Dec. 12 at 5 p.m.

The website where the auction can be found says “The youth of our valley are so enthusiastic and excited to explore. ALL the funds raised go directly to them to pursue their dreams and curiosities. The auction is a great way to have some fun and help the youth or by making a donation.”

A press release about the auction says the EBYF has been known for hosting fun and engaging fundraising events like the EBYF Golf Tournament, the EBYF Summer Social as well as the EBYF Art Auction at Island Lake Lodge.

“Not only do these types of events raise funds that go directly back to the community through supporting youth, they bring people together, create awareness about what EBYF does, and inspire individuals to get involved.”

It also says that fundraising is an essential part of running a successful non-profit organization, and speaks about the challenges faced during COVID.

“For EBYF, it was the challenge of how to continue to raise funds and support the youth of the Elk Valley. That is where the idea of a 12 Days of Christmas Online Auction came from. A core group of volunteers alongside their innovative leader, Emily got to work creating a safe way to shop for the holidays and support an important local charity.”

Throughout the 12 days of the auction, items will be added, and also randomly close, “which keeps bidders on their toes as they vie for the perfect gift for their special someone.”

“A fun addition to the auction is Apres Cheesemas – an event held at Cirque in Lizard Creek Lodge on December 10 with live music, cheese tasting, raclette and the opportunity to purchase the perfect cheese box to celebrate the holidays this year.”

“So, mark your calendars, make the link to the auction a favourite, and get ready for a fun way to give back to your community this holiday season.”
