The Fernie Council has appointed Jocelyn Sombrowski to sit on the Beautification Committee as a representative from the Leisure Services Advisory Board. The Committee is responsible for developing and recommending strategies and expenditures to Council for the beautification of public spaces and commercial and residential neighbourhoods, such as landscaping, streetscaping, furnishings, banners and seasonal decorations.
Sombrowski voiced her interest to Council after she had the opportunity to sit in on a Committee meeting in mid January to see how she could contribute. She will be filling a position that has been vacant since December 2011.
