City of Fernie seeks public input on budget

It’s budget month in Fernie as the city council and staff begin the 2024 budget process. It will kick off with series of special budget meetings this week and then an in-person open house for the community on February 29.

The special budget meetings will be held at the Seniors Drop In Centre on Feb. 14, 21 and 22, 2024 at 6:30 p.m.

The open house to discuss the 2024 draft budget and five year financial plan will e February 29 between 6:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. This will be an opportunity to look at capital projects proposed for the coming year.

On March 19 a special council meeting will discuss public input and have a discussion on what the tax rate will be. The budget and financial plan will get 1st and 2nd readings on March 26, third reading on April 9 and will be adopted on April 16.
