Teck’s Coal Mountain Operation has been awarded a prestigious award for safety.
The mine near Sparwood received the Canadian Institute of Mining, Metallurgy and Petroleum’s (CIM) John T. Ryan National Safety Trophy.
The trophy, awarded for best safety performance in 2010 in the coal mine category, was presented on May 23, to Nick Burt, General Manager of the Coal Mountain Operation, and representatives from Coal Mountain’s Occupational Health and Safety Committee, at the joint CIM awards dinner and gala in Montreal.
“We are proud to have our safety record recognized, especially by our peers in the Canadian mining industry,” said Burt. “Our employees are such tremendous ambassadors for our vision of everyone going home safe and healthy every day.”
