Elk Valley chambers set all-candidate forums for election

Voters in Fernie, Sparwood and Elkford can hear candidates speak t events in each community

The dates are set, and Elk Valley residents in Fernie, Sparwood and Elkford have the opportunity to measure up all local government election candidates vying to represent them at forums in coming weeks.

Each forum will be moderated.

FERNIE

In Fernie, the two mayoral and 15 councillor candidates have been invited to make their case at the Fernie Community Centre on October 4.

The forum, organised by the Fernie Chamber of Commerce, will start at 5:30pm, and attendees will have the opportunity to submit questions to the chamber.

SPARWOOD

The Sparwood Chamber is organising the Sparwood all-candidate forum forOctober 3, between 7 and 9pm at the at the Community Rec Centre. Doors open at 6:30pm for a 7pm start.

Voters are encouraged to submit questions directly to the Chamber of Commerce at administrator@sparwoodchamber.bc.ca, and attendees at the forum will have the opportunity to write and submit questions at the door.

Sparwood has two candidates vying for mayor, and another nine for council.

ELKFORD

Elkford’s all-candidate forum is scheduled for the same day - September 28, from 7pm, at Teck Hall.

Also organised by the local chamber, voters are invited to submit questions before September 19 online.
