The Elk Valley Parkinson’s Golf Fundraiser brought in $13,060 for the cause in 2022.
The tournament took place at the Sparwood Golf Club at the beginning of June, and was the first one back following a two-year pandemic hiatus.
According to Merlin Shelley, one of the organizers of the event, the fundraiser went well.
“Everybody that was there had a really good time, everybody was smiling,” he said.
It was the fifth fundraising event of its kind. The last four events prior to the pandemic brought in a total of $27,451.04. All the money raised goes to the Parkinson Society British Columbia.
Shelley said the event made up for the years lost due to the pandemic.
“We’re looking forward to doing it again next year.”
