Elk Valley RCMP will be collecting items for the Fernie Salvation Army food bank on Sunday (Dec. 11).

According to a press release from Svend Nielsen of the EVRCMP, police will be holding a “PACK A PC!” event that day at the Save-On-Foods and Eldho’s Your Independent Grocer in Fernie from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., depending on how busy they are.

“Your Elk Valley RCMP officers and staff will be at both stores, patrol car doors wide open to accept any donations for the Salvation Army Fernie Food Bank.”

“Patrons can purchase prepared packages from the stores (in likely $10, $15 or $25 amounts) OR non-perishable food items from the store and, well, pack the Patrol car full of goods to provide to the food bank and give those in need a better holiday season! Cash donations are accepted on site! Anyone can also purchase a gift card from the store, so the Food Bank can purchase necessary items that Santa left off the sleigh!”

“Elk Valley RCMP encourages everyone to attend and support this great event on December 11th. All items collected will be turned directly over to the Food Bank! We look forward to seeing you there!”

“Happy Holidays,” Nielsen wrote.
