Elk Valley transit services cancelled for Jan. 7

Illness has forced BC Transit to cancel services between Fernie and Elkford

Public transit in the Elk Valley is on hold, with Route 1 services cancelled for Friday, Jan. 7.

In a release from BC Transit, a spokesperson said that the Elk Valley Transit System which connects Fernie to Elkford “is currently experiencing challenges due to employee illness.

“This has resulted in the need to cancel all Route 1 service for Friday, Jan. 7.”

They would not confirm whether or not COVID-19, which is on a tear in the Elk Valley, was behind the cancellation.

“BC Transit appreciates the patience of customers during this time and apologizes for any inconvenience this may cause,” they said.

“We’re expecting service to resume on Monday but can’t guarantee at this point.”
