The nomination period has concluded (Sept. 9) for the upcoming municipal elections in BC, and Elkford has two mayoral candidates and seven councillor candidates for voters to choose from.

With two council incumbents competing for mayor, another two running for second terms, and two more having stepped back, Elkford is looking to have at least four new faces on council after October 15.

Some common themes among candidates, very broadly speaking, include addressing the housing shortage, shoring up healthcare, economic diversification, and keeping Elkford family friendly.

For more details about what each candidate hopes to bring to the table should they be elected, The Free Press has done candidate profiles on each runner, which are linked below.

Here is a list of the candidates that will appear on the ballot box for the District of Elkford. Incumbents that are not running are not included here.

Long-time Elkford mayor Dean McKerracher is stepping away from local politics, leaving the mayor seat open for two candidates to vie for, both of whom have served as district councillors.
