Tourism Fernie contributed $1,000 to the Fernie Legion on August 6, with the funds raised through sales of the famed ‘Expose Yourself to Fernie’ poster on sale around town.

The poster, which features renowned local Vern McGariggle modestly modeling up on the ski kill, has been a fixture at the Griz Bar and the Fernie Legion for years.

Following McGariggle’s passing in 2021, the remaining copies of the poster have been for sale, with the proceeds going to the Fernie Legion, of which McGariggle was a long-time member. He was also a volunteer with the Fernie Fire Department, BC Ambulance, Search and Rescue.

Posters are available for sale ($5 each) at the Visitor Information Centre, Fernie Alpine Resort – Griz Bar, Gearhub Sports and the Raging Elk. All the businesses are passing along proceeds for the Fernie Legion. There are still copies available for anyone wishing to buy one.
