The Fernie Arts Co-Op’s annual ‘We-Pay-The-Tax Day’ sale is coming up for Dec. 11.
On that day (a Saturday), local art connoisseurs will be able to buy locally produced art for the price you see on the tag - the Co-Op covers the tax.
“The price you see is the price you pay,” said local artists and Co-Op member, Melanie MacVoy.
The ‘We-Pay-The-Tax Day’ has been ongoing at the Co-Op for the last 10 years.
“It’s our busiest day of the year,” said MacVoy. Visitors can snap up some stocking-stuffer gift ideas in what’s on sale - art, glass, pottery, jewellery and more.
Each year, artists at the Co-Op agree to donated a percentage of their sales from December to a local charity. For 2021, they’ve all decided to donate 2 percent of their sales to the Salvation Army Food Bank. “We chose the food bank because the last year hit everyone hard,” said MacVoy.
Stop by the Fernie Arts Co-Op for their ‘We-Pay-The-Tax Day’ on December 11. The store will be open between 10am and 8pm, and refreshments will be on offer.
